Shri K Dewal joined the Indian Foreign Service in the year 2003. After completion of his initial training in New Delhi, he proceeded to Moscow in August 2005 for learning the compulsory foreign language Russian from the Moscow State University. After completion of the foreign language in May 2006, he worked as Second Secretary (Commerce) at the Embassy of India, Moscow and later as Second Secretary (Culture) at the Jawaharlal Nehru Cultural Centre, Embassy of India, Moscow.
He was posted to Embassy of India, Tashkent in May 2007 where he worked as Second Secretary (Pol), Head of Chancery and also Head of Mission for a cumulative period of eight months in the capacity of Charge d ’Affairs a.i.
He served in the Ministry of External Affairs (HQ) from 2010 to 2013 where he was given the task to man the Central Asia desk in the capacity of Under Secretary (Eurasia) and later Deputy Secretary (Eurasia).
He served the Embassy of India and Moscow as Counsellor (Commerce) and Head of Chancery from April 2014 to October 2017.
Presently, Shri K Dewal has been appointed Deputy High Commissioner of India to Mauritius since November 2017, to look after Political and Commercial work of the Mission and overall super vision of all wings of the Mission. His hobby is Music (Guitar) and his favourite sports are skating, hiking and sky diving.
He is married to Shweta Dewal and they have one daughter and one son.
