Department of Printmaking

Printmaking is available as a major discipline that leads to a Bachelor degree uniquely at the School of Fine Arts in Mauritius. The programme offers a wide array of possibilities in terms of exploration of media and surfaces which encourages the development of technical skills and a personal signature in the field. It encompasses a variety of studio practices (from basic printing techniques like planography, relief printing and serigraphy to more elaborate experimental processes) where each has its specific characteristics and distinct image qualities. The final year experimental studio base programme extends the parameters of conventional printmaking for a more creative and contemporary approach to image making. Such flexibility in the printmaking area makes room for cross-disciplinary approach as well.
