Department of Bhojpuri, Folklore & Oral Traditions
The Department of Bhojpuri, Folklore &Oral Traditions was set up in 1982 in accordance with the national policy of the Government of Mauritius to preserve, promote, research and disseminate the diverse cultures which form part of the Mauritian society.
The overall goal of the Department of Bhojpuri, Folklore & Oral Traditions is the collection, preservation, dissemination and study of the oral traditions and folklore of Mauritius with special emphasis on Bhojpuri as a language and vehicle of traditions. The Folk Museum of Indian Immigration of MGI is under the responsibility of the Department of Bhojpuri, Folklore & Oral Traditions.
