Department of Hindi Studies
Introduction
The Department of Hindi Studies is one of the oldest and most significant departments of the Tertiary Sector of the Institute. Activities in the Hindi Studies sector start humbly soon after the setting-up of the Department of Indian Languages at the Institute. During those times, the contribution of the Section was essentially in areas such as preparation of text-books for in collaboration with the National Centre for Curriculum Research and Development. The Section also started teaching of Hindi to adult beginners in those times and soon proceeded towards serving programmes at under-graduate level with the start of the B.A. Joint Humanities by the University of Mauritius in collaboration with the Institute.COURSES AND PROGRAMMES OF STUDIES OFFERED

Sophia University under the Erasmus+ programme of the European Union (EU) on the basis of the MoU signed between MGI and Professor Galina Sokolova, Head of Indological Studies, Sophia University has travelled to Mauritius between 27 September, 2017 to 7 October, 2017. Prof. Sokolova was attached to the Department of Hindi Studies, School of Indian Studies. During her stay, she: a.Delivered two lectures on the theme Medieval Poetry and Gender to undergraduate students of Hindi studies b.Delivered a Public Lecture on the theme Bulgaria, Mauritius, Africa: Preparing the ground for a renewed cultural encounter. |
